Tummy gap rehabilitation
I offer assessment of Diastasis Recti following pregnancy looking at the gap between the tummy muscles and overall forces and pressure in the abdomen. Rehabilitation will involve engaging the diaphragm with breath work and a gentle exercise program as well as guidance on best practice to assist in recovery of this debilitating issue.
Mummy MOT
This is a specialist postnatal examination for women following both vaginal and C-Section deliveries. It is an hour long session which assesses how your posture, pelvic floor muscles and stomach muscles are recovering after childbirth. You will be provided with gentle exercises and treatment to help with your recovery and get you back on track with your fitness goals. I can see you from 6-8 weeks after childbirth to any time postnatally to give the post natal assessment you deserve.
Rehabilitation for low back pain
I offer evidence based practice in rehabilitation for mechanical low back pain and sciatica to assist in full recovery to allow you to return to normal function. I will guide you through normal movement and assist with exercise prescription and soft tissue massage to relieve symptoms.
Continence issues
It is common but not normal to leak or wet yourself with coughing, laughing, sneezing, jumping on a trampoline, lifting weights or a heavy car seat. This can be addressed with a Physiotherapy assessment of issues in the pelvic floor and general advice to manage stress incontinence using exercises for the pelvic floor and deep core as well as rehabilitating a possible overactive bladder.
Unfortunately I am unable to offer fitting for pessaries but referrals can be made to other practitioners.
Return to running and exercise
This service is to assist women postnatally to return to running using evidence based guidelines to allow a safe graded return to prevent injury to the mum and assist in getting fitness back on track.
